This Month our focus is:

The Earth Energy

Anyone who practices yoga will benefit so much more by learning a little about it. Yoga originated thousands of years ago in India. The physical classes practiced in the West are a very small part of yoga, the word yoga means connection. If you connect with nature you are practicing yoga, if you connect with your breath you are practicing yoga, if you stand in the mountain and feel into your feet you are practicing yoga.

It is part of a greater system know as Ayurveda which translates as “The Science of Life”

Meaning the study of yourself, your physical and emotional wellbeing and how to remain balanced by Understanding a little about energy, your energy, the seasons energy, a trees energy. This is something we already feel but most of us take little notice of, as we are too busy in our minds and lives. Sadly we have never been taught about it, but it was part of every Ancient culture, it is deep in your roots.

Earth Energy - Description

Grounded, stable, steady, firm, secure, strong, cool, safe, belonging, home.

Good for :

Any back problems, strong legs and arms, body awareness, removes stiffness.

Stress, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, feeling isolated, feeling unfocused.

Earth Yoga Asana are held rather than movement..

Have you noticed that many asana have names connected to nature?

This is because they affect your mind as well as your body.

Strong, steady & stable

Earth Postures for physical strength. Mountain, tree, chair , goddess, squat, warriors

They build strength from your feet and up through your spine.

Earth postures to encourage relaxation, release, letting go, absorbing strength from the earth are all laying down restorative asana. Savasana, ankle to knee, twist etc.

Earth Meditations

Sit In nature such as a forest, the beach, a rock.

The Earth chant is Lam

The Earth colour is red visualise or wear the colour red, including red crystals & stones

Earth Mudras - Hand Gestures - The ring finger

This month we will use Kali. Touching The Earth and a new one.Stable & Steady Mudra


Any massage of the feet is grounding particularly pressing into the balls of your feet.


Walk slowly and stop often to smell the flowers, watch birds, touch sand, trees, flowers, leaves, soil & listen.

Spend more time sitting in nature, create a beautiful garden.

Housework...move slowly & methodically, breath deeply. You may get to enjoy it!
