This is known as a restorative/yin class.

September is the time to spring clean your body and your environment

Soucha meaning cleanliness is one of the ethical codes of yoga

Yoga for the lymphatic system - the bodies rubbish remover. This class is wonderful to cleanse your body and improve your immune system. Legs up the wall, supported bridge, yin postures for kidney and liver health as well as Marma Massage points with essential oils for colds and flu and lymphatic drainage in the chest.

Learn about the cleansing breath known as Apana and practice a lovely Apana meditation.

Food Therapy for your spring clean !

A simple but wonderful detox - avoid all processed food and drink

Go through the fridge and your cupboards, check the ingredients label at the back of all package food and if it contains anything that has a chemical name or you have never heard of - chuck it in the bin where it belongs!

A few ideas of what to eat.   5 meals per day, tea and coffee in moderation

BREAKFAST is usually our worst meal of the day as most of us eat nasty cereals plus that acid stuff we call apple or orange juice from a carton.

Replace with porridge - buy whole oats , add things such as sultanas, banana, stewed apple, bulleted seeds such as pumpkin., chia, flax - don’t add sugar if it isn't sweet enough add raw honey.

Fruit and natural greek yoghurt with acidophilus

Eggs, mushrooms - eat sourdough bread which has been processed properly. AVOID WHITE BREAD AND WHOLEGRAIN - the grains have been cooked quickly into little hard bits that are impossible to digest and get stuck in bowel pockets causing inflammation.

MORNING/AFTERNOON TEA. Home bake your favourite cakes, muffins or what ever but not from a packet mix or eat fruit or soaked nuts, yoghurt, homemade dips.

LUNCH. Salad, omelette, soup, leftover dinner

DINNER. Anything home baked with real ingredients, real spices and real goodness.

DRINK filtered water...canned drinks are a chemical cocktail...fruit juices are not much better.

You have cleared out your body systems now how about your house- Throw away the clutter !

Be brave let go of the emotional connection, this is just stuff you don't need or use.. A clean and tidy house is relaxing to be in and it feels so satisfying to open a cupboard and see everything neatly organised and easy to find.

Spring Clean with Soap nuts/berries

These are amazing and will save you so much money but most importantly help protect the earth and environment. They are the nuts from a tree which produces saponins the stuff that cleans and froths. Collected and dried by native villagers in India, they are fair trade and add to income of the family. I place 5 nuts in the dishwasher, a splash of vinegar in the rinse and occasionally some peppermint or eucalyptus oil and it does an amazing job. They stay in until the wash it not as perfect about 6 washes! I then tried them in my washing machine with a couple of drops of eucalyptus - even clean teenage stains. Recently I put them in my little carpet and settee cleaner. Nasty dog stain disappeared. The possibilities are endless. When I need more shampoo I can reuse the container. I can boil 5 nuts in a saucepan of water for 20 minutes and add a couple of drops of my favourite oils. Car wash, dog shampoo , liquid soap.

HELP PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT. AFTER 5 WASHES THEY GO IN THE COMPOST
